Easy DIY Holiday Decor

When decorating for the holidays, it takes just a few simple touches to pull everything together. A touch of lights and some homemade décor can really pull a room together. These projects (all of which we used in our Lookbook setting) are great not only for the winter solstice, but for birthdays, weddings, and celebrations in general!

Dixie Cup Garland
Trimming windows with garland can add a lot to a room. The one garland we just couldn't ignore are these Dixie Cup Lights. Although the link I am giving you here wraps the cups in an extra sheet of decorative paper, we just used plain old dixie cups, and they turned out just as great.

Candles inside of mason jars and recycled tin cans are also a beautiful eco-friendly way to illuminate a room. You can decorate the tin cans with any puncture design you like.

Accordion Zig-Zag Streamers
To add party appeal to a plain wall space, just hang some of these simple Zig-Zag Streamers and you’ll be all set. All it takes to make these ziggity-zags is some paper in the color of your choice, a scissors, and accordion skills. ;)

Pom Pom Garland or Ornaments
Pom Poms are the go to décor these days, and we can see why, they’re super simple! Pom Poms work great for decorating walls, mantles, trees, or gifts. For these poms, we used recycled tissue paper and followed this simple photo tutorial.

Paper Ornaments
When it comes to paper ornaments there really is no right or wrong. You can pretty much do whatever your heart desires with the craft materials you have on hand. We used old cereal boxes and cut them out into stars; then we decorated them with craft paper, cool scraps, and old buttons. This project is especially fun to do with family. Our Karma-Captain Peggy & Mini-Karma-Captain Siera had a blast making stars! Spending time with family is what the holidays are all about, after all. :)

Aren't these holiday crafts easy, and so very awesome? If you have any further questions on how to make these babies, don't hesitate to ask! Have a wonderful holiday season!
